EAGLES TRYOUT CAMPS ARE HUGE SUCCESS

The Powassan Eagle’s Jr A hockey club have already held two camps this year in preparation for the 2012 season. The Eagles first camp was held in the Czech Republic which hosted over 65 of the best athletes in the country. “I was very pleased with the level of play at camp.” Stated general manager Michael Kolarik. The second camp was held in the United States which hosted over 60 of the top players in the Midwest area. “The players came in and worked very hard, the camp was very competive.” Stated head coach Gary Astalos. He also went on to say, “We have been in touch with some very good players, our goal is to develop these kids and move them onto higher levels.”Astalos also mentioned he has been in touch with a couple North American Hockey League clubs about advancing players from his roster. “We need to do everything we can to help advance our guys onto higher levels, whether it is to junior, NCAA, or professional hockey and I feel our organization will do a very good job of promoting our guys.”
The Eagles are also proud to announce that they will be signing an affiliation with two professional clubs in the Czech Republis at the end of the month. "Our plan is to develop players for a year in Powassan and then move them on to one of these professional clubs." stated Kolarik. The Eagles will host a local camp for Canadian players before it opens training camp in the beginning of September. The Eagles plan to announce a good majority of their roster after the league draft on May 13th. Season tickets are now on sale.
